Staff and ministry Leaders

Trinity is a blessed church that is lead by a dynamic staff of people who are great at what they do, who love to work collaboratively as a team, who minister the love of God out of the love they receive from God, and know how to have a good time.

  • Kurt Tomlinson - Senior Pastor

In his 20th year in ministry, Kurt and his family moved to Van Wert after being appointed by Bishop Palmer to lead Trinity.  Kurt's family includes his wife Elaine and kids Elizabeth, Jim and Anthony,  After growing up in Syracuse, NY, Kurt moved to Ohio while working for General Motors.  Then, following the call of God, he attended United Seminary in Dayton and has led churches throughout the West Ohio Conference.  As a United Methodist Pastor, Kurt has a passion for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with people of all walks of life through leading worship, mission work and discipleship.

  • Josh Angel - Associate Pastor

Josh and his family moved to Van Wert from Michigan in 2012.  He has been in youth ministry his entire adult life and loves leading teens into a life devoted to Jesus.  Josh and his wife Nicki (our choir director) have three young children: Clint, Joy, and Evelyn.  In the little bit of free time that church, family, and seminary allows, Josh can be found hunting, fishing, or working in his garage.

Amy Prichard is a retired elementary school teacher who loves God and teaching children about the awesome God who created them and loves them. Growing up in the church, Amy accepted Jesus as her Savior as a child and has been growing in that relationship ever since. Starting in her years of high school, she has been working in a church setting by volunteering with children's choirs, Sunday School, VBS, children's church experiences and after school programs; as well as leading youth and adult Bible studies and other activities. Since her retirement , Amy has also been teaching a middle school class and substitute teaching Cross Over The Hill, a Bible class for the public school students.  She and her husband Jay have 2 married, adult children and 3 grandchildren (whom they love visiting and babysitting). Amy and Jay also love traveling.

Toni came to Trinity UMC in March 2015 and serves as Administrative Assistant. She previously worked as the 3-4 year old Preschool teacher at First United Methodist Church. She has one grown son, Drake, who lives in Van Wert. She lives with her two sons, Wade and Marshall. Wade will be attending Kalamzoo College and Marshall attends Van Wert High School. Toni was born and raised in Nauvoo, Illinois. She attended church as a young girl and accepted Jesus Christ at the age of 14. She is incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to work with all the Trinity UMC staff members and the community on a daily basis.

Deb has been the worship coordinator at Trinity since 2004 and a member of the Trinity family for nearly 40 years.  In addition to planning and organizing worship, she has taught fitness classes at the local YMCA for over 25 years.  Deb and her husband Rick are both Van Wert natives.  They have three grown children and six grandchildren.

Nicki and her family moved to Van Wert from Michigan in 2012. She has been involved with youth ministry since 2008, and music ministry even longer.  Nicki loves teaching teens music and giving them an opportunity to be a part of a band. She and her husband Josh (our youth minister) have three young children: Clint, Joy, and Evelyn. In her free time, Nicki can be found eating chocolate, drinking tea, and watching tv.

Melissa and her husband, Gary, joined Trinity 30 years ago when their children were young.  They were drawn to this church family because of their love for the Lord and each other, the study of Scripture, missions and outreach, and a strong commitment to training children.  Now they are a three generation family here with their grandchildren benefiting from Trinity's commitment to children and youth.

Melissa feels privileged to have been part of Trinity's music staff for the past 15 years as the choir accompanist, pianist, and keyboardist for the praise team.  Being a part of this ministry is a blessing in her life.
